SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 165
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Kruger's Diamond Jewelers in Austin on the splendid
occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
WHEREAS, Sam Kruger and his brother emigrated from Russia
to the United States and founded Kruger's Diamond Jewelers in
Fort Worth in 1906; Aaron, Sam's son, moved to Austin and in 1939
opened Kruger's Diamond Jewelers at Eighth and Congress streets;
Aaron and his wife, Edythe, ran the store and raised four children;
and
WHEREAS, David Kruger, Aaron's son, joined the family
business in 1969; over the next few years, the business was
expanded to malls and other stand-alone stores; eventually the
stores in the malls were closed, and David took over the downtown
Austin store; and
WHEREAS, David Kruger attributes his store's longevity to
loyal employees and customers, who are valued and appreciated;
and
WHEREAS, During their 100 years in business, Kruger's
Diamond Jewelers has continued to provide quality merchandise
and exceptional service, and the citizens of Austin are fortunate
to have a jewelry store of this caliber in our city; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate
David Kruger and the employees of Kruger's Diamond Jewelers on
the grand occasion of the store's 100th anniversary and extend
to all best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
