SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 182
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize popular radio personality and entertainer Greg Street on the occasion of his celebrity car and bike show, which is being held in Dallas on Mother's Day weekend; and WHEREAS, Greg Street has worked as a radio DJ in Mobile, Alabama, and in Houston and Atlanta, where he achieved great success with his Saturday night show; he became well known in Dallas as a DJ for K104 radio station, and he has also produced and distributed his own mix music tapes, including the recent "It's 6 o'clock, Volume 2"; and WHEREAS, When he is not working at concerts and other music events, Greg can be found at area schools encouraging students to stay in school and avoid drugs; he established the Greg Street Scholarship Fund to award college scholarships to deserving young people in Atlanta and Dallas; he also founded Operation Correct Start/The Street Foundation to encourage boys to overcome their negative environments and become responsible adults; and WHEREAS, Due to the success of the event that he founded, this year the Greg Street Celebrity Car and Bike Show will be held in six cities across the nation; he has received numerous awards both for his work as a radio personality and for his dedication to his community, and he is truly worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Greg Street for his many contributions to his community and extend to him best wishes for success at the Greg Street Celebrity Car and Bike Show; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
