SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 183
WHEREAS, Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives, an organization of chamber professionals from across the state and the oldest such association in the nation, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2006; and WHEREAS, Founded in 1906 as the Texas Commercial Secretaries Association, the group took its present name in 1978; from the beginning, its mission has been to enhance the skills and effectiveness of chamber of commerce professionals; the organization serves the needs of its members through training seminars, conferences, publications, and a number of other resources; and WHEREAS, The first Texas chamber of commerce was chartered by the Republic of Texas in 1840; today, professional chamber executives work in more than 400 Texas towns and cities, with the common goal of encouraging business growth in the state and improving the quality of life in their local communities; and WHEREAS, TCCE is marking its centennial at the association's meeting on June 26 through 28, 2006, in Galveston, home of the oldest chamber of commerce in Texas; and WHEREAS, Chamber of commerce professionals constitute a significant asset to every community in which they work, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing their outstanding contributions to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives and extend to all those associated with that organization sincere best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable celebration; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
