SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 190
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dr. William W. Harmon, president of Central College,
a campus of the Houston Community College system; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Harmon came to Central College from the
University of Virginia, where he was senior vice president
responsible for special projects, including capital development
for a new university sports arena and recruitment and retention
of minority faculty and students; and
WHEREAS, He had served as vice president of student services
at the University of Virginia and held positions as vice chancellor
for student affairs at the University of Pittsburgh, associate
vice president for student affairs at Wichita State University,
and director of the student affairs office at the University
of Medicine and Dentistry at the New Jersey School of Health
Professions; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Harmon's distinguished record for effective
leadership at some of the nation's leading universities,
including construction of student housing and fund-raising, is
an important asset to Houston Community College; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend
Dr. William W. Harmon for his valuable contributions to Houston
Community College and extend best wishes to Dr. Harmon and his
wife, Beverly, for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an
expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
