SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 203

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Sergeant First Class Eric Fernandez of the
United States Army, who recently won the title of Fort Bliss 
Drill Sergeant of the Year; and

	WHEREAS, Sergeant Fernandez competed for the title
against three of his peers, who were chosen from a group of 30 
drill sergeants at the post; drill sergeants play a vital role
in the Army, turning new recruits into capable soldiers; and

	WHEREAS, The competitors were tested on their physical 
abilities and their knowledge of rules and regulations; the 
competition highlights the professionalism and performance
of drill sergeants; and

	WHEREAS, Sergeant Fernandez will represent Fort Bliss
in a national competition at Fort Monroe, Virginia; he is
truly deserving of legislative recognition for this prestigious
honor; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend
Sergeant First Class Eric Fernandez for his hard work and
dedication and extend congratulations to him on winning
the title of Fort Bliss Drill Sergeant of the Year; and, be
it further

	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
