SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 227

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Tracye McDaniel, who has recently been named chief
operations officer for the Greater Houston Partnership; and
	WHEREAS, Formerly executive director of the Office of
the Governor Economic Development and Tourism Division,
Tracye brings more than 21 years of executive and senior
management experience to her new position with the Greater
Houston Partnership; and
	WHEREAS, Tracye spearheaded the development of more than 
16,000 new jobs and supervised a capital investment of over $4.3 
billion during her tenure as executive director, and as a result, 
Site Selection magazine rated the Texas business climate as the 
best in the nation for the third consecutive year in 2005; and
	WHEREAS, Under Tracye's leadership as tourism director, 
Texas became the second most-visited state in the country; she 
was honored as one of the "Most Influential African Americans in 
the Meetings/Tourism Industry" by Black Meetings and Tourism 
Magazine and as one of the "Most Powerful Women in Travel"; and
	WHEREAS, Tracye serves in leadership positions in many 
industry and professional organizations, including the Capital 
City African-American Chamber of Commerce, the Travel Industry 
Association of America, the Texas Economic Development 
Corporation, and the Texas Small Business Industrial Development
Corporation; and
	WHEREAS, A vital part of the Texas business development 
community for many years, Tracye will be a valuable addition to 
the Greater Houston Partnership, and she is truly deserving of 
legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Tracye McDaniel
for her outstanding work on behalf of her community and of the 
state and extend congratulations to her on her new position; and, 
be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
