SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 233
In Memory
of
LaToya Lynette Finley
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
commemorates the life of LaToya Lynette Finley, who died
April 15, 2006, at the age of 22; and
WHEREAS, LaToya was born March 15, 1984; she graduated
from Del Valle High School and earned an associate's degree as an
administrative assistant at Southern Careers Institute; and
WHEREAS, A loving and creative young woman, LaToya
enriched all who knew her with her charismatic smile and her
gift of music; she was a talented singer and songwriter whose
dignity and determination in the face of her cerebral palsy were
an inspiration; and
WHEREAS, LaToya taught that it is possible to find strength,
patience, joy, and hope in the struggles of day-to-day living;
the pleasure she brought to others and the lessons she taught
will live on beyond her own short life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
condolences to the bereaved family of LaToya Lynette Finley:
her mother, Vickie Finley; her sister, Leteshia Finley; and, be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family as an expression of profound sympathy from the
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of LaToya Finley.
