SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 235
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Clear Channel Communications Buffalo Barbeque Battle 2006 as a Texas State Barbeque Championship competition; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the nationally recognized Clear Channel Communications and participating sponsors, the second annual Buffalo Barbeque Battle will be held in Lubbock, Texas, at Buffalo Springs Lake August 18 through August 19; and WHEREAS, The Clear Channel Communications Buffalo Barbeque Battle was first held in 2005 with 83 participating cook-off teams preparing brisket, chicken, and ribs; and WHEREAS, The 2005 cook-off was a great community success and is considered by its sanctioning agent, the International Barbecue Cookers Association, to be the largest barbeque cook-off event in the Texas Panhandle; and WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbeque, and the Clear Channel Communications Buffalo Barbeque Battle team cookers provide superior cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby declare the Clear Channel Communications Buffalo Barbeque Battle 2006 a Texas State Barbeque Championship competition and extend best wishes to all associated with the event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this special occasion as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
