SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 247
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Dustin Patton, who helped save the lives of his parents
and his sister by his fast response to a life-threatening situation;
and
WHEREAS, Dustin is a 15-year-old Mineral Wells Junior High
School student who lived with his family in their home in the
Salesville community in Palo Pinto County; and
WHEREAS, During the night of April 2, 2006, he was awakened
by his sister, Kandi, who is blind, when she called out to him
saying she thought there was a fire; and
WHEREAS, He quickly checked her room and saw that it was
ablaze; he aroused his parents, Lisa and Russell Patton, and the
family ran out of the burning home; and
WHEREAS, The home was destroyed, but the family was safe
because Dustin realized the impending danger from the fire and
took quick action, and he deserves recognition for his good deed;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Dustin Patton
for his courage and mature response to an emergency situation and
extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of regard from the Texas Senate.
