SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 257
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to honor Denver Harbor Senior Citizens, Incorporated, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and WHEREAS, Denver Harbor Senior Citizens was organized by a grassroots coalition of senior citizens, community organizations, local elected officials, and the Community Development Division of the Mayor's Office; and WHEREAS, The mission of the nonprofit, community-based organization is to improve the quality of life for senior citizens in the Denver Harbor area; the group founded and has operated a senior citizens center that offers a wide variety of assistance and activities to the members of the senior community, such as transportation services, arts and crafts classes, field trips, meals, social events, and information and referral services; and WHEREAS, An eight-member board of directors oversees the center's operations, and the organization plans to expand the present services and activities in the future; and WHEREAS, Denver Harbor Senior Citizens provides an invaluable service in caring for the elderly and is dedicated in its mission to improving the quality of life for the senior citizens of Denver Harbor; this dedicated organization is truly worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Denver Harbor Senior Citizens, Incorporated, for its many contributions to the community and extend best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
