SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 259

	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 
recognize Patricia Graham, who is retiring from the Texas 
Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory Service on
June 30, 2006, after almost 27 years of loyal service; and
	WHEREAS, Patricia began working for the Department of 
Public Safety Crime Laboratory Service in September, 1979; a DNA 
technical leader, she has worked in the crime laboratories in 
both Austin and Corpus Christi and has served 14 years as 
supervisor for the Corpus Christi laboratory; and
	WHEREAS, She has contributed immensely to the growth and 
improvement of the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime 
Laboratory Service; Patricia is especially noted for her 
enhancement of the level of serology and DNA services, her expert 
analysis of evidence in difficult cases, her compilation of the 
first serology procedure manual, her ongoing efforts to improve 
written serology and DNA procedures, and the valuable training 
she provided to countless of analysts and serologists; and
	WHEREAS, She has actively participated in professional 
organizations, including peer committees, advisory boards, and 
the laboratory accreditation board, and she played an 
instrumental role in shaping the accredited laboratory system 
that the Department of Public Safety now has; and
	WHEREAS, Patricia's significant contributions to improving 
scientific analysis and laboratory policy will have a lasting 
impact on the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory 
Service; she has been a dedicated employee and a consummate 
professional, and she will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
79th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend
Patricia Graham for her outstanding service to the Texas 
Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory Service and extend 
to her best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it 
further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
