Amend CSHB 2221 by adding the following appropriately 
numbered sections to the bill and renumbering the remaining 
sections of the bill appropriately:
	SECTION ____.  Subchapter E, Chapter 130, Education Code, is 
amended by adding Section 130.0811 to read as follows:
	Sec. 130.0811.  ELECTION FROM SINGLE-MEMBER DISTRICTS.  
Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, members of the 
governing board of a junior college district must be elected from 
single-member districts.
	SECTION ____.  Section 130.0811, Education Code, as added by 
this Act applies to each junior college district beginning with the 
first election of trustees that occurs on or after January 1, 2006.  
Members of the governing board of a junior college district shall be 
elected from single-member districts as required by Section 
130.0811, Education Code, as added by this Act as the terms of the 
members elected before January 1, 2006, expire.  This section does 
not affect the term of a member serving on the governing board of a 
junior college district on January 1, 2006.
