Amend CSSB 1227 (House Committee Printing) in SECTION 43 of 
the bill, at the end of added Section 61.2251, Education Code (page 
39, between lines 18 and 19), by inserting the following:
	(f)  Subsection (c)(3) does not apply to a student who:                 
		(1)  is currently enrolled in an approved institution at 
which 40 percent or more of the total number of the institution's 
students are members of ethnic or racial groups that are 
underrepresented among undergraduate students at public or private 
institutions of higher education in this state; and
		(2)  has not yet completed 48 semester credit hours at a 
public or private institution of higher education in this state.
