AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

H.B. 225 extends the renewal time for a concealed handgun license from four to five years, which will reduce the average annual cost of a license. 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 411.183(b), Government Code, to provide that a renewed handgun license expires on the license holder's birthdate, five, rather than four, years after the date of the expiration of the previous license. 

 

SECTION 2.  Makes application of this Act prospective.

 

SECTION 3.  Effective date:  September 1, 2005.
