BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The intent of HB 225 is to extend the renewal time for a concealed handgun license from four to five years, which will reduce the average annual cost of a license.

 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

 

 

ANALYSIS

 

The bill amends §411.183(b) of the Government Code by changing the number of years a renewed license is in effect prior to expiration from 4 years to 5 years.
