AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
Due to the lack of zoning in Houston, neighborhoods frequently contain bars located in residential areas. The fees for original beer and wine permits and retail dealer's on-premises licenses are extremely low and do little to deter non-serious and irresponsible business owners from applying for permits.
H.B. 275 raises the fee for beer and wine permit and a retail dealer's on-premise license in counties of a certain population.
