AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Chapter 24, Government Code, addresses the term limits of the 47th Judicial District.  Under this chapter the Armstrong County grand jury meets for six-month terms.  Since the Armstrong County grand jury meets infrequently throughout this semi-annual term, having only one jury selection as opposed to two in a year will save the county approximately $500 in costs for the additional day.

H.B. 593 improves court efficiency by lengthening the term limits of the 47th Judicial District to twelve months.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
