                                                                                                       Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Under current law, Chapter 25 of the Government Code, Randall County has one County Court.

Due to recent growth in Randall County the court is overloaded and an additional County Court is needed.

HB 597 seeks to remedy the overcrowding by creating an additional court, namely County Court at Law No. 2 of Randall County.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
