BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
During the 78th Regular Session, legislation was enacted that moved Article 4590i, Vernon’s Texas Civil Statutes, to Chapter 74, Civil Practice and Remedies Code. Now there exists antiquated cross references in the statutes. It is the purpose of this bill to update citations to Chapter 74, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, in the Business & Commerce Code.
HB 735 updates citations to Chapter 74, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, in Chapter 26, Business & Commerce Code.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
ANALYSIS
HB 735 amends Section 26.01(b)(8), Business & Commerce Code, to refer to Section 74.001, Civil Practice and Remedies Code, and strikes 1.03, Medical Liability and Insurance Improvement Act of Texas, to reflect the updated statute.
