BILL ANALYSIS
By: Hughes
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
The need for increased judicial pay has over time become greater in Texas. In addition, judges who take complex cases should be entitled to additional compensation
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
ANALYSIS
The bill adds a new Section 659.0126 to the Government Code to give an increase in salary to a district judge presiding over a multidistrict lawsuit within a state fiscal year equal to the increase for a local administrative judge ($5,000). The bill also provides that such supplemental compensation will not be included for purposes of computations based on judicial salaries.
