AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Under current law, state agencies are allowed to provide awards to employees to recognize the employees for professional achievement or outstanding service.  Under current law, these awards are not to exceed $50 in cost for any individual.  As a result of the latest round of budget cuts, state employees are taking on more responsibility and sometimes perform duties beyond the scope of employment.

H.B. 912 increases the $50 cap on award expenditures to $100.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
