BILL ANALYSIS
By: Isett
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Under current law, state agencies are allowed to provide awards to employees recognizing them for professional achievement or outstanding service. Under current law these awards are not to exceed $50 in cost for any individual. As a result of the latest round of budget cuts, state employees are taking on more responsibility and sometimes perform duties beyond their scope of employment. H.B. 912 simply increases the $50 cap on award expenditures to $100.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
ANALYSIS
Amends Section 2113.201(b) of the Government Code, changing the $50 limitation to a $100 limitation.
EFFECTIVE DATE
