BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, Chapter 701 of the Transportation Code limits a county to the employment of not more than five county traffic officers who are dedicated to the enforcement of highway traffic safety.

H.B. 1165 excludes counties with a population of more than two million from the officer-limit provision.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.
