AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Current law allows the board of regents of the Texas A&M University System to change the name of the system or of any component institution, agency, or service under its control.  In order to prevent Prairie View A&M's name from being changed, H.B. 1409 provides Prairie View A&M University the same exemption that applies to Tarleton State Unversity under the Education Code.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
