AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The Chambers County Hospital District (district) was created through special legislation in 1991.  However, because the district is also a general law hospital district authorized by Chapter 286 (Hospital Districts Created By Voter Approval), Health & Safety Code, this creates confusion.  In addition, the special legislation includes a reference to a tax rate that is out of date.

H.B. 1475 deletes the unnecessary enabling legislation for the district, as part of the Texas Legislative Council's statute clean-up project.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
