BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

The Health and Safety Code, Section 614.017(c)(1) lists the names of agencies that were part of

a health and human service consolidation authorized during the 78th legislative session.  To be consistent with the current law, H.B. 1918 deletes the previous agencies names and adds Correctional Managed Healthcare Committee and the names created as a result of the consolidation.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Provides clean-up language in Section 614.017 (c) (1), Health and Safety Code; it adds The Correctional Managed Healthcare Committee; deletes the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation and adds the Department of State Health Services; deletes the Texas Rehabilitation Commission and adds the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services; deletes the Criminal Justice Policy Council and adds the Department of Family and Protective Services; deletes the Texas Commission of Alcohol and Drug Abuse; deletes the Texas Department of Human Services and adds the Department of Aging and Disability Services; deletes the Department on Aging; deletes the Texas Department of Health; deletes the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective Date

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

 

Upon passage, or, if the Act does not receive the necessary vote, the Act takes effect September 1, 2005.

 

COMPARISON OF ORIGINAL TO SUBSTITUTE

 

The substitute adds The Correctional Managed Healthcare Committee to the list of agencies to exchange information.
