AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Under current law, a retired physician whose only medical practice is in providing charity care is provided an exemption from paying a registration permit fee. H.B. 2158 extends the same exemption to retired physicians whose medical service is volunteer work for a disaster relief organization.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 156.002, Occupations Code, by adding Subsection (c), to provide a retired physician whose only practice is voluntary medical care for a disaster relief organization is exempt from the registration permit fee requirement. 

 

SECTION 2.  Makes application of this Act prospective. 

 

SECTION 3.  Effective date: September 1, 2005.
