                                                                                                       Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Under current law a retired physician whose only medical practice is in providing charity care is provided an exemption from paying a registration permit fee. This legislation would extend the same exemption to retired physicians whose medical service is volunteer work for a disaster relief organization.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

The bill exempts a retired physician who only practices voluntary medical care for a disaster relief organization from the registration permit fee on or after the effective date of the bill.

EFFECTIVE DATE

September 1, 2005.
