AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

H.B. 2174 creates uniform six month terms for the 15th, 59th, and 336th District Courts in order to provide for more efficient court administration and docket movement. 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 24.166(c), Government Code, to provide that the terms of the 15th District Court begin on the first Mondays in January and July, rather than January, April, July, and October.

 

SECTION 2.  Amends Section 24.161(b), Government Code, to provide that the terms of the 59th District Court begin on the first Mondays in January and July, rather than January, April, July, and October.

 

SECTION 3.  Repealer: Section 24.482(c) (regarding the terms of the 336th Judicial District in Grayson and Fannin Counties), Government Code.

 

SECTION 4.  Effective date: September 1, 2005.
