                                                                                                        Committee Report (Substituted)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

It appears to be desirable to rearrange the duties of the county attorney and district attorney in Fort Bend County with respect to children's protective services. The purpose of this bill is to accomplish same.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS

The bill would move power and responsibility regarding children's protective services from the district attorney to the county attorney in Fort Bend County.

EFFECTIVE DATE

September 1, 2005

COMPARISON OF ORIGINAL TO SUBSTITUTE

The substitute changes the reference to Chapter 71, Family Code, to Title 4, Family Code, to reflect the fact that the statutes regarding protective orders have been rearranged.
