AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

The juvenile board (board) of Fayette County currently consists of the county judge and the district judge in Fayette County.  Each member of the board lends specific knowledge, expertise, and familiarity with juvenile issues to the board.  To better serve the citizens of Fayette County, it is important to include the county sheriff of Fayette County on the board as well.

 

H.B. 3542 authorizes the board of Fayette County to be composed of the county judge, the district judge in Fayette County, and the sheriff of Fayette County.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 152.0811(a), Human Resources Code, to provide that the juvenile board of Fayette County is composed of the county judge, the county sheriff, and the judge of a district court in Fayette County as determined by the commissioners court.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2005.
