BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

The juvenile board of Fayette County currently consists of the county judge, and the district judge in Fayette County.  Each member of the board lends specific knowledge, expertise, and familiarity with juvenile issues to the juvenile board. To better serve the citizens of Fayette County, it is important to include the county sheriff of Fayette County on the Fayette County Juvenile Board as well.

Therefore, H.B.3542 authorizes the juvenile board of Fayette County to be composed of the county judge, the district judge in Fayette County, as well as the sheriff of Fayette County.
