AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Currently, there is large workload in the health care system and having experienced physicians available to practice medicine will benefit all Texans.  As proposed, S.B. 184 amends the Occupations Code, so that a physician who is 70 years of age or older would be exempt from paying the medical license renewal fee.  This exemption would allow the physician to continue to practice medicine and not have to fully retire.
