AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

The current personal needs allowance of $45 for residents of certain long-term care facilities who receive medical assistance is inadequate to meet the rising cost of living.  As proposed, S.B. 199 seeks to increase the personal needs allowance of residents in long-term care facilities who receive medical assistance.  S.B. 199 increases the minimum personal needs allowance to no less than $75 per month.  This allowance is meant to enable residents to purchase simple goods and services that can help maintain feelings of control over their lives.
