AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

As proposed, S.B. 550 allows the counties in the 12th, 84th, 106th, 258th, 278th, and 411th judicial districts to pay for their bailiff out of either the general fund of the county or the courthouse security fund.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 53.009(k), Government Code, to provide that the salary [of a bailiff] is paid out of the general fund or the court house security fund of each county.

 

SECTION 2.  Amends Article 102.017(d), Code of Criminal Procedure, to authorize a fund designated by this subsection to be used only to finance security personnel for a district, county, justice, or municipal court, as appropriate, or to finance items when used for the purpose of providing security services for buildings housing a district, county, justice, or municipal court, as appropriate, including certain devices, procedures, and personnel. 

 

SECTION 3.  Effective date: September 1, 2005.
