                                                                                                       Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

Currently, day care centers, group day-care homes, and family homes are not required to post a list of current employees for the benefit of parents or guardians of children who attend or may attend the facility.  This information could be useful to parents or guardians in determining whether a child should attend the facility.

S.B. 565 would remedy this situation by requiring such information to be posted.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that rulemaking authority is expressly granted to the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in SECTION 1 of this bill.

ANALYSIS

The bill requires each day-care center, group day-care home, and family home to post a list of all current employees at the center or home in accordance with rules adopted by the HHSC executive commissioner.

The bill requires the HHSC executive commissioner to adopt rules regarding the size, wording, and placement of the list required by the Act.
