AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Chapter 24, Government Code, addresses the terms of the 47th Judicial District.  As proposed, S.B. 669 seeks to improve efficiency by lengthening the term of the 47th Judicial District to twelve months. 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 24.149(c), Government Code, to provide that the term of the 47th District Court in Armstrong County begins on the first Monday in January, notwithstanding Section 24.012(a) (requiring each district and criminal district court to hold at least two terms of court each year in each county in the district).  Deletes the provision that the terms in Armstrong County begin on the 10th Monday after the fourth Monday in January, and the 11th Monday after the first Monday in August.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: January 1, 2006.
