AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT
The 78th Legislature, Regular Session, 2003, adopted licensing guidelines for electricians which included a three-month grandfather period during which practicing electricians could apply for their licenses. Military personnel who were overseas during the state's licensing grandfather period missed the opportunity to apply for an electrician license.
As proposed, S.B. 707 allows electricians serving in the military between March 1, 2004, and June 1, 2004, to apply for the electrician license without being subject to an examination.
