AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

As proposed, S.B. 1553 allows the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in cooperation with other agencies, to identify and develop alternative sources of revenue for the TEXAS Grant program.  

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 56.310, Education Code, by adding Subsection (c), to require the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, in consultation with other state agencies, to develop and implement an alternative funding program, including an appropriately implemented process for the naming and sponsoring of state assets, for the purposes of this subchapter (Texas Grant Program).  

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2005.
