BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE

 

CSSB 1579 allows billboards to be erected on U.S. Highway 281 between the city limits of Three Rivers.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution. 

 

ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 391.252(a) Transportation Code, to prohibit a person from erecting an off-premises sign that is adjacent to and visible from U.S. Highway 281 between State Highway 186 and Interstate Highway 37, exclusive of the segment of U.S. Highway 281 located in the city limits of Three Rivers.  Deletes existing text relating to the effective date of this subchapter.   

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: September 1, 2005.

September 1, 2005.

 

COMPARISON OF ORIGINAL TO SUBSTITUTE

 

The original version applied to all of Live Oak County.  The committee substitute applies only within the city limits of Three Rivers.
