AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

Currently, hospital district administrators in counties of at least 190,000 people serve two-year terms and at the will of the hospital district board. 

 

S.B. 1769 increases the term from two years to four years.  Administrators will still serve at the will of the hospital district board. 

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1.  Amends Section 281.026(b), Health and Safety Code, to provide that the administrator for a hospital district serves at the will of the board of hospital mangers of the district for terms of not more than four, rather than two, years.

 

SECTION 2.  Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2005.
