AUTHOR'S/SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

As proposed, S.B. 1868 creates an additional county court at law in Kaufman County, increasing the number of county courts to two, to help relieve an increase in cases, many of which are drug-related.  The county commissioners made this request due to a growth rate in the county, which they quote at approximately 30 percent.
