Amend H.B. 93 on page 1, line 21, strike "legally authorized
execution" and substitute "judicially ordered execution".
A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to showing the manner of death on the death certificate of
an inmate of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice who is
lawfully executed.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 193.005, Health and Safety Code, is
amended by adding Subsection (j) to read as follows:
(j) The death certificate of a decedent who was an inmate of
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the time of death and
who was lawfully executed shall classify the manner of death as
death caused by legally authorized execution.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
