A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to appropriations to The Texas A&M University System and
to Texas A&M University--Kingsville in connection with the Irma
Rangel School of Pharmacy.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. In addition to other amounts appropriated to
Texas A&M University System Administrative and General Offices for
the state fiscal biennium ending August 31, 2005, the amount of $3
million is appropriated out of the general revenue fund to that
university system for the remainder of the state fiscal biennium
ending August 31, 2005, to repay that university system for the
amounts it advanced to Texas A&M University--Kingsville to cover
start-up costs for the Irma Rangel School of Pharmacy. The
university system may spend the amounts appropriated by this
section for purposes for which the system was authorized to spend
the amounts advanced.
SECTION 2. The amount of $6,535,500 is appropriated out of
the general revenue fund to Texas A&M University--Kingsville for
the state fiscal year ending August 31, 2006, for operational,
instructional, and infrastructure support costs related to the Irma
Rangel School of Pharmacy. The number of full-time-equivalent
positions (FTEs) that the university may fill using appropriated
funds is increased by 23 over the number otherwise authorized for
the university for that fiscal year for the purposes of operating,
providing instruction at, and providing infrastructure support to
the pharmacy school.
SECTION 3. The amount of $6,520,625 is appropriated out of
the general revenue fund to Texas A&M University--Kingsville for
the state fiscal year ending August 31, 2007, for operational,
instructional, and infrastructure support costs related to the Irma
Rangel School of Pharmacy. The number of full-time-equivalent
positions (FTEs) that the university may fill using appropriated
funds is increased by 33 over the number otherwise authorized for
the university for that fiscal year for the purposes of operating,
providing instruction at, and providing infrastructure support to
the pharmacy school.
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
legislative session.
