A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to designation of portions of United States Highway 190
and Interstate Highway 10 as the 1st Cavalry Division Memorial
Highway.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
is amended by adding Section 225.0277 to read as follows:
Sec. 225.0277. 1ST CAVALRY DIVISION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a)
The 1st Cavalry Division Memorial Highway is the portion of United
States Highway 190 from the border of Louisiana and this state to
the intersection of that highway with Interstate Highway 10 and the
portion of Interstate Highway 10 from its intersection with United
States Highway 190 to the border of New Mexico and this state.
(b) The department shall design and construct memorial
markers to be placed along the memorial highway indicating the
highway number, the designation as the 1st Cavalry Division
Memorial Highway, and any other appropriate information.
(c) The department shall erect a memorial marker at each end
of the memorial highway and at intermediate sites along the highway
that the department determines are appropriate.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
