A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to certain information provided to an attorney appointed to represent an indigent defendant in a criminal case. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: SECTION 1. Article 1.051, Code of Criminal Procedure, is amended by adding Subsection (l) to read as follows: (l) A court or the court's designee shall ensure that an attorney appointed under this article or under Chapter 26 to represent an indigent defendant is provided sufficient notice of the defendant's first court appearance following the attorney's appointment. SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
