A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to Texas Historical Commission specialty license plates.             
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subchapter G, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, 
is amended by adding Section 504.657 to read as follows:
	Sec. 504.657.  TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION LICENSE PLATES.  
(a)  The department shall issue specialty license plates including 
the words "Texas Historical Commission."  The department shall 
design the license plates in consultation with the Texas Historical 
Commission.
	(b)  After deduction of the department's administrative 
costs, the remainder of the fee for issuance of the license plates 
shall be deposited to the credit of the history museum and county 
historical commission account in the general revenue fund.  Money 
in the account may be used only by the Texas Historical Commission 
to provide grants to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum and 
to county historical commissions in amounts determined by the Texas 
Historical Commission.
	SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
