A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to the creation of an additional judicial district in 
Hidalgo County.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Subchapter C, Chapter 24, Government Code, is 
amended by adding Section 24.562 to read as follows:
	Sec. 24.562.  418TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT (HIDALGO COUNTY).  The 
418th Judicial District is composed of Hidalgo County.
	SECTION 2.  The 418th Judicial District is created January 
1, 2007.          
	SECTION 3.  Notwithstanding Sections 201.027 and 202.003, 
Election Code, the initial vacancy in the office of judge of the 
418th Judicial District shall be filled by appointment, as provided 
by Section 24.311, Government Code.
	SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2006.
