A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT

relating to venue for the prosecution of certain offenses involving 
health professions.
	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:                        
	SECTION 1.  Section 165.159, Occupations Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  Venue for the prosecution of an offense under this 
section is in Travis County or in the county in which the offense 
occurred.
	SECTION 2.  Section 201.605, Occupations Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
	(e)  Venue for the prosecution of an offense under this 
section is in Travis County or in the county in which the offense 
occurred.
	SECTION 3.  Section 202.605, Occupations Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  Venue for the prosecution of an offense under this 
section is in Travis County or in the county in which the offense 
occurred.
	SECTION 4.  Section 203.504, Occupations Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  Venue for the prosecution of an offense under this

	SECTION 5.  Section 204.352, Occupations Code, is amended by 
adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:

	SECTION 24.  Section 602.302, Occupations Code, is amended

	SECTION 26.  Section 604.351, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:

	SECTION 27.  Section 605.356, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:

	SECTION 28.  Section 651.602, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:

	SECTION 29.  Section 701.451, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:

	SECTION 30.  Section 702.556, Occupations Code, is amended 
by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
	(c)  Venue for the prosecution of an offense under this 
section that consists of the violation of Section 702.101 is in 
Travis County or in the county in which the offense occurred.
	SECTION 31.  (a)  The change in law made by this Act applies 
only to an offense committed on or after the effective date of this 
Act.  For purposes of this section, an offense is committed before 
the effective date of this Act if any element of the offense occurs 
before that date.
	(b)  An offense committed before the effective date of this 
Act is covered by the law in effect when the offense was committed, 
and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
	SECTION 32.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
