A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a requirement that school districts publish certain
information at the beginning of each school year.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 11, Education Code, is
amended by adding Section 11.169 to read as follows:
Sec. 11.169. PUBLICATION OF CERTAIN INFORMATION REQUIRED.
Not later than the 10th day after the first day of instruction of
each school year, a school district shall publish the following
information in a newspaper of general circulation in the district:
(1) the district's performance rating under Section
39.072;
(2) the total number of students enrolled in the
district;
(3) the total number of classroom teachers employed by
the district;
(4) the total number of employees other than classroom
teachers employed by the district;
(5) the average annual salary of a classroom teacher
employed by the district;
(6) the average annual salary of a district
administrator other than the superintendent;
(7) the annual salary of the district superintendent;
and
(8) the average annual salary of a district employee
who is not an administrator or a classroom teacher, computed using
the salaries of all district employees other than classroom
teachers, administrators, and the superintendent.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2005.
